Repairing and servicing all the major stairlift brands
Common faults
Most stairlift repairs come down to one of these six.
Nearly always the batteries, the charger, or a dirty charge strip stopping the contacts meeting.
Usually an obstruction sensor caught by a carpet edge — or a dirty rail and worn rollers.
The swivel interlock has failed, so the lift won’t move and you can’t step off safely.
Worn gear teeth or a dry rack. Caught early it’s a service; left alone it becomes a gearbox.
Lost pairing, flat remote batteries, or a failed receiver board in the carriage.
Every make codes differently. Tell us the number and we can usually diagnose it on the phone.
Straight stairlifts
Straight stairlift repairs
A single rail on a straight flight. Parts are standard across each manufacturer’s range, so most faults are sorted from stock on the van.
Curved stairlift repairs
A curved rail is made for your staircase, and the carriage has extra motors to keep the seat level round the bends — so there is simply more to go wrong.
Curved stairlifts
How it works
No scripts, no sales visit. Four steps.
Make, straight or curved, and what it is doing. Any error code helps.
Usually within a day or two — sooner where someone is housebound.
We find the fault and tell you the cost first. No call-out charge.
Most faults fixed on the visit, then run end to end and shown working.

Independent — not tied to one brand
Why an independent
Out of warranty? You’re free to use whoever you like. We repair every major make rather than pushing one brand.
Repairs by make
Every manufacturer has its own quirks, codes and parts.

The most common lift in North London homes. Battery, charge-point and swivel faults dominate.
Acorn 130 · Acorn 180 · Superglide

Shares much of its engineering with Acorn. Chargers, remote pairing and seat-belt sensors most often.
Slimline · Brooks 130 · Brooks Curved

Well built and long lived. Usually batteries, the hinged rail, or a controls board.
Stannah 420 · Stannah 260 · Sofia

Common on curved installs. Levelling motors and bend charge points are the usual culprits.
1000 · Freecurve · Simplicity

Fewer around, solidly made. Faults tend to be electrical — chargers, batteries and controls.
Elan · Elite · Elite Curved
The make is usually on the carriage side or under the seat. Send us a photo and we’ll identify it.
